AHJ Engineers was formally established in 1985, but the firm’s roots extend back more than a decade earlier. Our history traces through Atwood-Hinzman Inc., a respected consulting engineering practice that helped shape structural work across the Inland Northwest.
Origins: Atwood-Hinzman Inc.
Before AHJ Engineers became an independent firm, it operated as a branch office of Atwood-Hinzman Inc. Consulting Engineers, founded in 1969 in Spokane, Washington.
The firm was led by experienced principals whose work established a standard of technical rigor, professional relationships, and long-term client trust.
Establishing the Boise Office
Keith Jones relocated from Spokane to establish the Boise office, serving as Regional President and Principal for the Intermountain region. Under his leadership, the Boise practice grew in scope and responsibility, eventually becoming AHJ Engineers.
